They look adorable, but did you know seals are the largest predators in the Netherlands? During our popular Seal Tour on Texel, we sail close to the sandbanks where the seals bask in the sun. Here you can admire them in their natural habitat: the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Can you spot the differences between gray and common seals?
A trip on the ANNA is completed with a unique excursion: you’ll also sail through the harbor of Den Helder. A place normally closed to the public, but where you’ll get an impressive view of naval vessels, offshore ships, patrol vessels, and submarines from the water. We’ll sail along this impressive backdrop at some distance, a striking contrast with the tranquility of the Wadden Sea and the seals on the sandbanks. Boat Sailing Texel. His company’s name isn’t without reason. Skipper Frido Boom is passionate about boats, sailing, and Texel. He comes from a traditional fishing family in Oudeschild and grew up in the Wadden Sea region, surrounded by fish and seals. For years, he shared his knowledge of the mudflats and fishing during tidal flats and shrimp fishing trips. A few years ago, he changed tack: he commissioned the construction of the Anna and focused on small-group boat trips from the Texel fishing port in Oudeschild.
It’s never boring with Frido. Never quiet either. On board, he makes sure you have everything you need and shares interesting facts about fishing, seals, and the surrounding area.
